TDI's mission is to promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce by connecting job seekers with disabilities that we have prepared for employment to businesses in the community that have a need for their unique skills, talents and abilities.
Prior to joining The Business Center for Diversity & Inclusion (BCDI) as a Project Manager, Steven had 8 years of experience in human resources as Director of Employment with a national travel company and a recruiting firm in New York. Steven relocated to Florida from Connecticut shortly before Hurricane Andrew, is a graduate of Villanova University and enjoys the many advantages of living in the Tampa Bay area. In his dual role as Director of Development for The Diversity Initiative (TDI), Steve has coordinated multiple events for H/R Directors, Hiring Managers and Business Owners that focus on the value and quality work Job Seekers with Disabilities bring to their employers. He also has met with many small to large companies across different industries, conducting needs analyses to connect individuals with unique abilities to employment opportunities throughout The Greater Tampa Bay area. Steven actively participates in multiple Chambers of Commerce, speaking about TDI’s no-fee employment resources that promote Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace. Prior to his work with TDI, Steve dedicated over 10 years to a local non-profit that provided day programs and group homes for adults with intellectual disabilities. He looks forward to continuing to help businesses with their Diversity & Inclusion culture in his role with BCDI.
Rina joined the Diversity Initiative Team shortly after she moved to Florida. Before that, Rina had been living in Orange County, New York. While in New York, she earned her BS in Speech and Hearing Handicapped Education and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Early on in her career, Rina discovered her passion for assisting persons (children and adults) who have disabilities. Over the past twenty years, she has supported many individuals with achieving their goals and dreams like finding a job and living more independently. Rina continues to enjoy helping others find a job and succeed at that job. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and playing with her twin daughters.
Vanessa contributes over 10 years of experience in training, consulting, coaching, public speaking and facilitation of Diversity and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the workforce to The Business Center for Diversity and Inclusion (BCDI). She has authored presentations, as well as served as a featured speaker and panelists regarding Diversity and Inclusion of Persons with Unique Abilities in the workforce to government agencies; Chambers of Commerce; HR professionals, managers and business owners; Rehabilitation Counselors; and Media (radio, podcasts, and television). Through managing programs and providing direct services for the last 7 years as Vice President of The Diversity Initiative (TDI), Vanessa’s consultations and support services have allowed a multitude of businesses in the Greater Tampa Bay Area to meet their needs while realizing the many benefits of Diversity and Inclusion in workforce via connections with job seekers with unique abilities that TDI has prepared for employment. As a no-fee employment resource to both businesses and employees, Vanessa’s skills in comprehensive post-hire services have promoted hundreds of long-term successful employment connections.
Vanessa is a proud alumnus of The University of South Florida Honors College, holding Dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Biomedical Science. She has been certified by the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner and recently obtained national certification as an Employment Support Professional through the Association for People Supporting EmploymentFirst (APSE). Her other professional certifications include Advanced Supported Employment, Discovery and Self- Employment. Vanessa currently serves on the board for APSE’s Florida chapter. She looks forward to sharing her expertise with the business community through her training role at BCDI.
Prior to joining the team at the Business Center for Diversity and Inclusion (BCDI), Roxanne performed various tasks for The Diversity Initiative (TDI) as a subcontractor, including designing the BCDI website. She is the owner and operator of The Higher Purpose VA where she assists small businesses and entrepreneurs with their business tasks. Prior to creating the Higher Purpose VA, Roxanne spent her entire career performing customer service and office administrative work.
Including individuals with unique abilities in the workforce is a topic that is near and dear to her heart as she is raising a child on the autism spectrum and she hopes to see her child gainfully employed upon his completion of school. As the prospector for BCDI, she looks forward to helping businesses become aware of the no fee employment services offered through TDI and the BCDI.
